Class License for the Provision of Public Telecommunications Services On-board Aircraft

This Class License authorizes flight operators to provide public telecommunications services on-board aircraft

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) today published a Class License which permits the provision of public telecommunications services on board aircraft.

The Class License is applicable only to aircraft registered in the State of Qatar. The Class License is technology neutral but systems supporting the telecommunication services may only be operated when the aircraft is at an altitude of at least 3000m.

The Class License is issued following a public consultation on a draft Class License (the Consultation) initiated by CRA on January 27, 2014. CRA’s position with respect to the comments received in response to the Consultation can be found here.
