To commemorate the World Postal Day, the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has invited international and local stakeholders for high-level discussions on the development of postal sector in Qatar. Organized by CRA, the World Postal Day Forum 2018 on October 9, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha, aims to enhance effective collaboration between international regulators and industry players.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications, the Forum includes active participation from international experts and speakers. Through panel discussions and presentations, participants will present their experience in the field of regulating postal sector and in matters related to consumer protection.
"CRA is mandated to regulate the postal sector. By organizing events such as the World Postal Day Forum, we intend to have an open and continuous dialogue with the different levels of stakeholders in the market to better understand their concerns, challenges and views. CRA will develop effective regulatory frameworks that would provide direct benefits to the consumers, as well create a level playing field for the industry players," said His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of CRA.
Panel of speakers at the Forum includes Hashim ElHaj from the Universal Postal Union (UPU); Dr. Soud Al-Shuaili from the Ministry of Transport & Communication, Oman; Alia Jandal from Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Oman; Dr. Worlfgang Feiel from the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR); Kevin Ray from Q-Post, Salim Omar from Q-Post, among others.
A key part of the Forum is a mini-exhibition of postal and courier services available to Qatari residents by a private companies including Aramex, Falcon Express, First Flight Couriers (Middle East) LLC, Tokyo Freight Services WLL, Q-Post, UPS,
The World Postal Day is celebrated on October 9 each year on the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was established in 1874 in Switzerland. The UPU is a specialized agency of the UN, it is one of the world’s oldest international organizations and is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players.
