Fixed Number Portability Public Consultation

Fixed Number Portability Enables Customers to Change Their Service Provider by Keeping the Existing Fixed Line Numbers

After the successful launch of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in January 2013, the Regulatory Authority has decided that the portability of fixed numbers should also be made available in the country.

In keeping with open and transparent regulatory processes, the Regulatory Authority has launched a public consultation process on the Fixed Number Portability (FNP) Policy.

Once implemented, FNP will empower consumers in Qatar to retain their existing fixed number when switching to a different service provider.  This will also play an important part in the ongoing liberalization of Qatar’s telecommunications market.

To assist interested parties and different stakeholders, the public consultation document has been prepared and includes a draft of Fixed Number Portability policy.

The consultation document is available at this link.
