A high-level delegation from the State of Qatar, headed by H.E. Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), is participating in the 18th Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 9 -12, 2018, under the theme: “New Regulatory Frontiers”.
The GSR is an annual event organized by International Telecommunication Union (ITU), connecting ITU-D Sector Members, Administrations of ITU Member States, National Regulatory Authorities, Regional and International Organizations and ITU affiliated academic and research institutes. During this year event, more than 600 professionals and around 100 speakers from around the world will network.
The four-day event is hosting interactive panel discussions and presentations about thematic events around the “Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity – Policy and regulatory challenges and opportunities”. GSR also included high-level panel discussions about digital transformation, digital identity and protecting personal data. This is in addition to the Regional Regulatory Associations Meeting and the Chief Regulatory Officials (CRO) Meeting.
The ICT sector on a global level is evolving at incredible speed, in line with this, CRA participates in events like GSR, which is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with other regulators, policy and decision makers, industry experts and stakeholders around the world, which will help the ICT sector to evolve in Qatar,” said H.E. Mohammed Ali Al-Mannai, President of CRA.
On the sidelines of the symposium, H.E. President of CRA, held high-level meetings including meetings with Houlin Zhao, Secretary-General of the ITU, François Rancy, Director, ITU Radiocommunication Bureau and Brahima Sanou, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT).
