Public Consultation on Class License for Public Telecoms On-board Aircraft

Consultation on a proposed Class License to enable the provision of public telecommunications services on-board aircraft

ictQATAR today published a public consultation on a  proposed Class License to enable the provision of public telecommunications services on-board Qatar Airways flights.

Qatar Airways has indicated its interest in providing “in-flight” telecommunications services for its passengers on board its aircraft. The  scope of the proposed services will include GSM and Internet access.

Such services require licensing in accordance with Article 9 of Decree Law No. 34 of 2006 on the promulgation of the Telecommunications Law.  ictQATAR feels that a Class License would be the most suitable type of license for provision of such services.

ictQATAR seeks the views of interested parties regarding the proposed Class License. Instructions on how to respond to the consultation are included within the consultation document.

The consultation document can be found here.
