Impose the following penalties according to Schedule No. (1) of the provisions of the Telecommunications Law, as following:
1- An amount of (1,000,000QAR) One million Qatari riyals in penalty for violations of the instructions pertaining to customer protections; Ooredoo’s discounts that contradict the Telecommunications Law, specifically Article 4 (8), which requires CRA to protect “the interests of customers, and this includes defining rules for regulating tariffs and monitoring the terms and conditions of telecommunications services. Ooredoo’s non-compliance with informing the CRA of the offerings in the market indicates a lack of transparency that is preventing the customer from evaluating the impact of Ooredoo’s offer.
2- An amount of (500,000QAR) five hundred thousand Qatari riyals in penalty for Violation of the instructions pertaining to anti-competitive practices; In violation of Clause 40 of the Retail Tariff Instructions, Resolution No. 3 of 2018 issuing the Order CRARAC 11/15/2018, “Retail Tariff Instructions require Ooredoo (and all service providers)” to provide the calendar quarter report, Where not to submit it may distort competition to an extent increased by the repetition of Ooredoo behavior. a lack of transparency that is preventing the CRA from evaluating the impact of Ooredoo’s offer on the market.
The total amount of the financial penalty: (1,500,000 QAR) one million and five hundred thousand Qatari riyals.
