Telecommunication Numbers are finite resources and the CRA regulate its use as part of its mandate. The Numbering Regulations provides a mechanism of numbers allocation, withdrawal and related procedures in accordance with the National Numbering Plan. Service Providers are entitled to request numbering resources for the provision of different telecommunication services.

The CRA has formulated Numbering Regulations for effective management and allocation. The regulation includes a monitoring and an audit process to achieve this objective. Using Numbering Management System (NMS) Service Providers will be able to submit periodic reports to reflect the use of numbers allocated by the CRA.

The primary objectives of this Regulation are to provide a long-term framework within which the National Numbering Plan may continue to be developed for the benefit of all Customer’s, which has regard to International Rules. It ensures transparent and non-discriminatory access to Numbers and changes to Customer's Numbers are minimized.
