Financial Sanctions Committee Decision No. (5) regarding Ooredoo’s Nun-compliance with the obligations to deliver its list of Illegal Mobile Discounts in relevant mobile markets

Impose the following penalties according to Schedule No. (1) of the provisions of the Telecommunications Law:

1- An amount of (500,000QAR) five hundred thousand Qatari riyals in penalty for violations of the instructions pertaining to customer protections; Ooredoo’s lack of compliance prevent customers to be informed of offers existing in the market and therefore Ooredoo’s lack of transparency misleads customer and prevents them from benefitting from the best prices.

2- An amount of (250,000QAR) two hundred fifty thousand Qatari riyals in penalty for Violation of the instructions pertaining to anti-competitive practices; Service Provider must not apply or change any tariffs, prices or charges or any other consideration that are contrary to the tariffs communicated by the General Secretariat. Any agreement or arrangement between the service provider and the customer to the contrary is prohibited”.
